Settlement Reached In DJ AM's Wrongful Death Suit

The estate of DJ AM has settled its lawsuit against several companies over the September 2008 plane crash in West Columbia, South Carolina.

In the lawsuit the estate claimed that although AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, survived the crash, the injuries he sustained caused him to became re-addicted to drugs, and ultimately lead to his death in 2009.

According to TMZ, though the terms of the settlement are confidential, all defendants including Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Learjet.

Goldstein's initial lawsuit blamed the accident on the pilots of the jet, claiming that even though they were aware that one or more of the tires had blown they decided to "abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner," after which the plane overshot the runway and burst into flames. The owner and operator the plane placed fault with the airport, and tire company, calling the jet and the runway "defective."

In related news, the family of the co-pilot who died in the plane crash reached a settlement in their lawsuit against the companies that owned and operated the jet - Global Exec. Aviation, Inter Travel & Services, Inc, and Pem Group, Inc., last year in November for nearly $500,000.
